The Estate of Martin Ramirez

Mr. Walsh has been personally honored to represent the Estate of Martin Ramirez, a deceased Mexican artist who emigrated to California in 1925 to find work and to provide for his wife and four children.

After a few years of manual labor, he was confined to state mental institutions continuously until his death in 1963. As the artwork he produced during that period became known, the New York Times called him "one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century."

Mike's representation of the Ramirez Estate has resulted in the recovery of over 200 pieces of artwork (a large percentage as a result of mediation), with some of the works being sold for as much as $400,000 each. Now, more than 80 years after leaving Mexico for a better life, and 40 years after his death, Martin Ramirez could finally provide for his family, which now includes 13 adult grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
